Welcome

Letter from the chair

Thank you for your interest in this newly created and highly significant role for our growing organisation.

Born around a decade ago, the Balfour Project has reached a tipping point - to increase our effectiveness, the organisation needs to mature, building on the solid foundations that have been laid to date, whilst keeping the volunteer-led ethos, that has served us so well.

The timing of this role is crucial. Over the last year, the work we do on Palestine (rooted in the British historical role in the enduring conflict) has moved to the centre of the global stage.

This is therefore a fantastic opportunity to help us shape the future of our charity, and in turn work towards our goal, which is now more important than ever, to work with others in securing peace with justice, security and equal rights for all Palestinians and Israelis.

We are looking for someone who has a passion for what we do, and a pragmatic drive to help us succeed. We want you to bring your skills and experience of senior leadership, gained in a relevant context (ideally operations, policy, communications and fundraising) to lead a formidable team of patrons, advisors, fellows, officers and volunteers.

You will be accountable to a robust Board of Trustees, whom you will help guide with the right strategies, structures and systems in delivery of the charity’s mission. Working to the Chair, you will be well-supported with the array of talents and backers that continue to step up to make our work count. You will help take us to the next level of institutional development, public profile and impact.

Chair

The conditions on offer are flexible, as we want the right person, who will lead us through the next years of our journey and help us play our part in improving the dreadful situation in the region through ability, dedication, knowledge, networking skills, adaptability and a sustaining desire to make things better through the means and values the Balfour Project advocates.

We are looking forward to meeting you,

Andrew Whitley, Chair, The Balfour Project
